We are engulfed in the ancient tea forest. Damp earth and mushroom smells hit us as Napu walks out in front of us through an entire world of green that wasn’t any monoculture of tea, but rather a living and breathing mass of ferns, mosses, and bamboo that shares and benefits from its ancient neighbours, the tea trees. Mists come sideways and Dakpa and I just continue to follow Napu until she climbs a gargoyle shaped tea tree and begins to pluck buds. We’ve arrived into a sumptuous kingdom of humid green, and I’d be quite content to fade into the earth.
